PINS Bull - 7/8/17

Postby TXeddy37 on July 20th, 2017, 11:20 pm

Been trying hard this year to break 8', been running lots of baits yet nothing but the cast outs had been getting hit this year. With near perfect conditions out of PINS I knew I would be running baits out really far, so I left the Malibu II at home and loaded up the Viking Profish Reload. With the Surf being nearly flat, I was able to get multiple baits out easy and extremely far out. Friday was slow but the shark alarm finally went off, with the 50W getting hit; turned out to be a big southern which got cut up into 4 baits. Baits would remain untouched that night, but I ran an all new spread the next morning with the long drop about 950 yrds out with fresh ray. Around 2PM the long drop started screaming, got up to the rack it was on.

Landed a 102" Female Bull, and after a little help on the release she quickly swam off and over the bar. Its been a learning experience for sure, but with lots of good resources on this site and a few buddies showing me some tricks I finally did it. Now to try get that 10'.

Thanks for the report. Beautiful Bull. Lots of weight to one that size. You may jump right past the 10' mark and go 11 or 12. Good Luck.

Good Post. Congrads. If you have a big ray; pending size you can at least leave it out day, night, day and night. If super huge longer. Ive pulled the biggerones in after two days bloody.
