I've had this happen a few times on PINS. I will sometimes make a short section of mono leader w/crimps, about 1' long with an eye on one end and a snap/coastlock on the other. Clip yourself a second weight below your first weight for more holding power.

Matt, thanks for the report. Keep us posted on how things are going.

You might try sandbags, in current that heavy. Rig them like we did on the east coast, last year.
